About the Role

We are looking to add a Safety Director to our growing Safety Department. As a Safety Director, you will be responsible for the develop, coordination, and implementation of occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations within the organization. This position will lead our safety operations at our Corsicana and Rockdale, the location for this position is in Rockdale, TX, and onsite at our Rockdale

Essential Functions

  • Assures Riot personnel and contractors are in compliance with Riot and Regulatory requirements for HSE
  • Provides tactical leadership, influence, and support to the safety staff, operations supervisors/foremen and core contractors to accomplish their HSE accountabilities
  • Ensures daily meetings are addressing the core principles of the Riot Safety Program
  • Works with Operations and Construction Directors to identify leading indicators and test KPIs with frontline to assure alignment
  • Oversees the Tracks/Trends for all incidents / near misses and works with safety personnel to identify learnings from events, approves communication on learnings with operations frontline to build awareness
  • Keeps Sr VP of Operations informed of HSE progress on a regular basis
  • Collaborates with management to maintain, continuously improve, and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
  • Ensures completion and filing of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting
  • Provides technical support to the safety personnel
  • Assure STOP WORK is in place and used for all activities that could harm employees, equipment, or the environment
  • Works with safety personnel and key operations and construction leads to identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
  • Ensures employee training and competency assessment is being maintained on applicable safety standards (internal or external)
  • Works with safety personnel staff to review and continuously improve the Riot safety training and acts on recommendations for revisions, improvements, and updates
  • Personally conducts safety inspections and audits within operations and field sites to assess employee competence and compliance with safety requirements
  • Works with safety personnel staff to review accident and incident reports and implement solutions to help prevent future events
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards

Education and Experience

  • Proven ability to interface with senior management and help drive company goals and priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to ensure affective training is producing competency in workforce
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Ability to maintain and oversee competency requirements for reporting staff
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to coach and develop others
  • Commercial acumen and awareness
  • Strong P&L knowledge and control
